Late night bedtime smoothie

It is winter in New England and with all the crazy temperature changes we have to take extra good care of ourselves to fend off the seasonal colds, flu and potential blue moods. We all get colds from time to time, but you may be able to boost your resistance to cold viruses by eating plenty of foods that enhance the immune system. There are all sorts of foods to assist our bodies to be strong, energetic and healthy and one tasty way to get extra nourishment is through juices and smoothies.

Tonight I made a lovely, creamy smoothie with frozen bananas, almond butter, milk and chopped almonds as a garnish. Peel and slice the bananas, put into a freezer-proof container and freeze for at least 2 hours. Place a frozen banana, 1 cup of milk (or milk substitute) and a large tablespoon of crunchy almond butter into the blender. Blend on high until smooth and top with a handful of chopped almonds.

This is a nutritious, soothing bedtime treat...sweet dreams my friends!
